網銀與中國廠商解約
Wanin International, a company which proxied the operation of the video game Swordsman Love 3, or JX3, in Taiwan, recently announced that it would cease cooperation with the game’s Chinese developer Seasun Games.
代理《劍俠情緣參》（劍參）的網銀國際公司，最近宣佈將與遊戲中國開發商西山居的終止合作。

Earlier, Wanin refused to bow to the Chinese developer’s demand that it should “rectify” insensitive remarks that Taiwanese players made regarding Covid-19 in the games’ chatrooms.

On April 4, a day declared in China as a national day to mourn for victims of the coronavirus, JX3 went offline for three hours as the government ordered a halt to public entertainment.

That led many Taiwanese players to discuss the situation in the game’s chatrooms using the term “Wuhan virus,” which is considered insensitive to COVID-19 victims in the city.
這使得許多台灣玩家在遊戲聊天室中使用「武漢病毒」一詞討論該情況，而「武漢病毒」一詞被認為對染上新冠肺炎而過世的武漢人不敬。

Seasun Games then pressured Wanin to issue a 10-year suspension for the offending players.

However, Wanin refused, saying that the Chinese developer’s request is incompatible with the principle of free speech; therefore, its cooperation with Seasun will end on May 5.

That means both companies will lose 1.5 million players from JX3, nearly half of the game’s 3.3 million player base in East Asia.

Xiao Zheng-hao, chairman of Wanin International, says that Taiwan values freedom of speech and the whole world knows that. “There is no reason why I should ban the players simply because they talked about the pandemic.”
網銀國際董事長蕭政豪表示，台灣言論自由是全台灣人都知道的，全世界也都知道，「沒有理由我運營的遊戲就要因為討論疫情就要停權」。

Players in Taiwan praised the company for taking a stand. Some saw the incident as an attempt by China to tighten its grip on freedom of speech in Taiwan, even in video games.
