Japan’s Prime Minister Fumio Kishida announced on Aug. 14 that he would step down in September.
日本首相岸田文雄8月14日宣布將於9月下台。
Citing weak approval ratings, Kishida said he is resigning in the interest of rebuilding public trust in his Liberal Democratic Party and continuing to advance political reform.

Reuters reported that Kishida’s move came as the result of political scandals and public discontent with Japan’s economy, which made his job increasingly difficult.
