Jane Austen, one of Britain’s most famous female writers, is now on the country’s 10-pound note.

A new plastic 10 pound note, featuring a portrait of Jane Austen, went into circulation on September 14.

Austen is only the third woman, apart from the Queen, to appear on British banknotes after social reformer Florence Nightingale and prison reformer Elizabeth Fry.
