Dan’s uncle has been suffering from depression for a long time. He is talking about the disease with his good friend, Owen.

Dan: I have! I don’t think he understands the illness at all.
丹：有啊！他根本就不了解憂鬱症吧。

Owen: Yeah, it isn’t about whether people are content with their lives or not. These people are simply unable to be happy.
歐文：從來都不是知不知足的問題，憂鬱症的人根本就已經失去快樂的能力。

Dan: Definitely. People need to t ake mental health issues more seriously.
丹：的確如此。大家應該要更加嚴肅看待心理疾病的問題。

Owen: We need to realize that it is completely normal for people to get depressed. It can happen to anyone.
歐文：我們必須了解得到憂鬱症很正常，而且每個人都有可能會得憂鬱症。

Dan: What he said will only discourage people from seeking medical help when they are really down in the dumps.
丹：他說的那些話只會讓真正陷入低潮的人更不敢去尋求醫療協助。

Owen: That will only make the situation worse.
歐文：只會讓情況更糟。
Dan: Yeah, there’s no need to put extra pressure on people who are already depressed.
丹：沒錯，實在沒必要再給他們增添額外的壓力。
