According to a survey conducted by the UK’s National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), “123456” is the most easy-to-crack code. “Qwerty” and “password” are also popular choices.

Ian Levy, the technical director of NCSC, said that reusing your passwords is a common mistake that can be avoided.

To prevent others from hacking into your account, the NCSC suggests that people should not set passcodes using consecutive numbers, names, sports teams or swear words.

Ian Levy added that using hard-to-guess passwords is the first step to protecting your accounts. Users are encouraged to be creative and use words that are memorable for themselves only and that other people can’t guess.
