Henry and Linda are chatting in the office.
Linda: Thank God it’s Friday! Any plans for the weekend?
plan(n.)
Henry: I have to drive all the way down to Kaohsiung to visit my parents. I wish my car had the autopilot function like Tesla cars do.
all the way大老遠I wish I Ved我希望我可以(與現在事實相反)function(n.)功能
Linda: I saw a news report the other day. The driver of a Tesla was sleeping while his car was on autopilot!
news report新聞報導while=when當~的時候
Henry: It’s really dangerous to fall asleep while driving, even when the autopilot is on.
dangerous(adj.)
Linda: I totally agree. I heard that the autopilot mode is only supposed to be used when the driver is fully awake.
totally(adv.)完全地mode(n.)模式be supposed to RV應該要~fully(adv.)=completely完全地awake(adj.)
Henry: That makes sense. When pilots turn on the autopilot mode on a plane, they are not allowed to fall asleep, either.
make sense有意義、合理pilot(n.)機師turn on開啟be allowed to RV被允許做某事
Linda: Car designers and engineers should really think about how to help people drive safely and efficiently at the same time!
designer(n.)設計師engineer(n.)工程師efficiently(adv.)有效率地at the same time同時
