A Taiwanese musician had a brush with death last week after he was attacked in his hotel room by an assailant.

Chimi Chen was unwinding at a Mongkok hotel on September 24 when the attacker attempted to enter his room by pretending to be a hotel staffer.

According to a post on Chen’s Facebook page, the National Chinese Orchestra musician was staying at the Lodgewood Hotel, when a man knocked on his door and claimed to be a member of the staff.
陳麒米在個人臉書頁面上的發文指出,他在入住「薈賢居」酒店後,一名男子敲門聲稱自己是工作人員。

The assailant insisted that five additional people were staying with Chen in breach of hotel policy, and asked him to open the door and let him inspect the room.
男子堅稱陳帶了5個人住房,違反酒店規定,要求他打開門讓他檢查房間。

However, Chen was suspicious and refused to open the door for the stranger, explaining that he couldn’t see the man’s hotel name tag.

The attacker then tried to force his way in, revealing a 40cm knife.

“I almost died in Hong Kong,” said Chen, who managed to force the room door closed as soon as he saw the blade and call for help.

Police arrived shortly afterwards and arrested the assailant, who has been described as mentally unwell.
