There are two ways: lowering costs, or generating more revenue.

Experts say that some store owners who choose to lower costs decide to have a shop in a smaller or less visible space, which charges less rent.

Some shop owners have even tried to turn to self-service models, which remove the need for in-store clerks, in order to lower costs.
