Last month, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA), said that soon they will allow virtual banks to open in the region.

Not for long though. Since the HKMA announced the change, more than 50 companies have already said they are interested in opening virtual banks in the financial hub.

But it isn’t cheap. The city says that companies will need to have at least US$38.36 million (NT$1.14 billion) to apply for a license.
