Amy and Nathan are talking about a new train.

Amy: China and Hong Kong are in the news again.
艾咪：中國跟香港又上新聞了。
Nathan: Yes, I heard. They just opened the new HK-China rail link — a high-speed train that can get from Hong Kong to Beijing in just nine hours.
拿丹：是啊，我聽說了。中國跟香港將開啟新的列車，深港高鐵，從香港到北京只要9小時。

Amy: Did you know that it’s Hong Kong’s first ever high-speed train?

Nathan: That’s not much of a surprise. Hong Kong isn’t very big.

Amy: Yes, the Hong Kong part of the line is only 26 kilometers long, but it joins China’s rail network, which is the largest in the world.

Amy: That’s right. The train also stops at several other big Chinese cities including Guangzhou, Shanghai, and Beijing.

Nathan: Do you think that will mean more people will travel between Hong Kong and China? I wonder what Hongkongers think about that.

Amy: Some people are excited, others aren’t — it depends on your beliefs. But one thing that they are happy about is that project is finished. One man told TVBS news, “we waited eight years and argued a lot about this train, so at least it’s finally built!”
