Here’s How Evernote’s CEO Stays Organized
Evernote is some of the most popular software that we use today, but few people use it more than the company’s CEO Chris O’Neill.
software(n.)軟體
He has over 10,000 notes on his account, from meeting reminders to his children’s homework.
reminder(n.)
Here’s four tips Evernote’s biggest fan has for staying organized all week long.
organized(adj.)
Firstly, give each workday a theme. Sometimes we have so many emails and little jobs that we forget what we really need to do.
theme(n.)主題
Chris says that setting a topic for each day helps you stay focused. For example, Tuesdays are for business, Wednesdays are for marketing, Fridays are for finishing anything that’s left over.
topic(n.)主題focused(adj.)集中的、目標明確的marketing(n.)行銷
Next, always plan ahead. Chris has nine different calendars on Evernote, including travel, work, and his children’s activities.
ahead(adv.)未來
Not only does this help the CEO keep track of everything, it also lets him look at his long term goals as well as how well he is doing.
Thirdly, stop planning your day according to your emails. Instead, write a “tomorrow list” before you go home the day before with three things you need to get done the next day.
Chris recommends doing the most difficult problem first to get it out of the way. He also says you should only check your email twice a day, so it doesn’t get too distracting.
recommend(v.)推薦distracting(adj.)
Last of all, reduce the number of meetings you go to. At Evernote, Chris has a “no agenda, no attendance” rule.
reduce(v.)減少agenda(n.)議程attendance(n.)出席
That means if the meeting doesn’t have a clear goal then he doesn’t join it. When he does, he makes sure that somebody takes notes to share with everyone afterwards.
Remember, everyone is different and has their own way of staying organized, but finding the right approach is the key to getting more done in a day.
