Grindr, the world’s largest online dating application for the LGBT community, has opened its first office in Asia, Taiwan. Grindr was founded in 2009 by founder Joel Simkhai, and obtained by China’s Kunlun Tech for US$152 million dollars in early 2018.

“Taiwan is the first nation in Asia to legalize gay marriage. It is an open society that is tolerant of sexual minorities. It also has strong tech talents that are relatively affordable,” said the company’s chief technology officer (CTO) Scott Chen Jun-yang, who will be in charge of this new office.
