The Wall Street firm is boosting base pay for its entry-level employees — first-year analysts — to $110,000, up from $85,000, according to people familiar with the matter. Second-year analysts will make $125,000, up from $95,000, and first-year associates will get a $25,000 pay bump to $150,000.

The industry was roiled in March when junior bankers at Goldman laid bare the rigors of Wall Street life in an internal survey. The analysts complained that they worked nearly 100 hours a week and slept an average of 5 hours a night to deal with an “inhumane” workload and “unrealistic deadlines.” They said their work hours had negatively affected their relationships with family and friends.
