The 59-year-old star George Clooney has confirmed that he once gifted US$1 million in cash to each of his 14 closest friends who helped him when he went through hard times. Clooney revealed the story in an interview with GQ magazine.

Rumors about the story traced back to 2017 when Rande Gerber, Clooney’s best pal, told a reporter that Clooney invited his closest friends over for dinner on September 27, 2013, only to offer each of them a suitcase full of cash.

“We open it up, and it’s 1 million dollars in $20 bills. We were in shock,” Gerber said in an interview.
shock(n.)(v.)
In order to get a huge pile of cash, Clooney got an old van that said “Florist” on it and drove down to a vault in a location in downtown Los Angeles.

Then, he packed a million bucks into 14 luggage bags that he had bought, as if he were in a scene of “Ocean’s Eleven,” a heist comedy film featuring the star.

“I just thought basically if I get hit by a bus, they’re all in the will. So why am I waiting to get hit by a bus?” Clooney told GQ.

Clooney also mentioned that the film “Gravity” was initially considered a flop, and that is why he and his costar, Sandra Bullock, were given percentages of box-office revenue instead of salary.
