A new challenger has thrown his hat into the ring in Taiwan’s presidential race as Foxconn founder Terry Gou has announced his run as an independent candidate.

However, despite this call for unity against the DPP, Gou is already facing criticism for his decision to enter the presidential race, which breaks his personal promise to assist Hou in winning the upcoming election.
