Fresh off the acquisition of Lordstown Motors in Ohio, Foxconn and its partner Fisk Inc. announced the auto assembly plant will be manufacturing its own electric vehicle as part of its new project PEAR – the Personal Electric Automotive Revolution.

Foxconn fully acquired the 599-acre plant via its US affiliate Foxconn EV Property Development LLC in May 2022, agreeing to purchase land and assets of the electric vehicle startup Lordstown Motors Corp. for over $260 million.

General Motors had owned the plant for over 50 years before closing it in March 2019. In December of that year, Lordstown Motors purchased the plant from GM for $20 million.
