Jennifer and Chad are friends. They are chatting.

Jennifer: There’s something in the news about the need for foster families for guide dog puppies. I wonder if our family would be able to adopt one.
珍妮佛：有消息說幾隻導盲犬在徵求寄養家庭，我在想我們家能不能認養一隻。

Chad: It could be difficult. You’d have to meet certain qualifications.
查德：可能會很困難喔，要符合蠻多條件的。

Jennifer: What are some of them?
珍妮佛：像是什麼？
Chad: You have to live in a city, like Taipei. And at least one adult should look after the puppy all day to help it learn the rules and get used to its training.
查德：像是要住在市區，比如臺北。而且至少要有一個大人可以全天候照顧小狗，幫助牠學會規矩和適應訓練。

Chad: You can’t have more than one child under six years old. Also, you need a car because guide dog puppies aren’t allowed to go on motorcycles.
查德：家裡不能有超過一個六歲以下的小孩，而且要有車，因為導盲幼犬是不能搭乘機車的。

Jennifer: That actually sounds like a lot of trouble. It’s almost like taking care of a child.
珍妮佛：其實聽起來挺麻煩的，幾乎跟照顧小孩一樣。

Chad: It sure is. On the bright side, the costs of taking care of the puppy are all paid for.

珍妮佛：而且能幫助需要導盲犬協助的盲人們。

Chad: Right. Still, better think twice before you apply to make sure the puppies will be in good hands.
查德：沒錯，但申請前最好還是想清楚，才能確保幼犬們得到好的照料。
