The number of women participating in Taiwan’s politics has reached a historic high, according to a report released by the Department of Gender Equality of the Executive Yuan.
行政院性別平等處公布的報告指出，台灣參政的女性人數創下歷史新高。
Titled “2023 Gender at a Glance,” the report shows that the number of female local government heads and representatives in Taiwan has reached a record high of 56.3%.
這份題為《2023年性別圖像》的報告顯示，台灣女性地方首長與民意代表人數創下紀錄新高，比例高達56.3%。

Additionally, the number of female mayors and county magistrates has increased by 18.8% from 2018, following last year’s local elections.

Meanwhile, over 40% of judges and members of the Control Yuan are female.

With the latest Cabinet reshuffle after the new premier Chen Chien-jen was sworn in, the percentage of female officials has increased by around 10%.

Now nearly 20% of the Cabinet members are female.

The report uses the same metrics adopted by the United Nations Development Program’s Gender Inequality Index to measure Taiwan’s gender equality.
報告也使用聯合國開發計畫署（UNDP）所採用的性別不平等指數（GII）來衡量台灣性別平等的程度。

The index’s score of gender inequality is based on reproductive health, empowerment and the labor market.

Although Taiwan is not included in the UN index, its GII score would have been 0.036, according to the DGE.
儘管台灣並不包括在聯合國的指數內，性平處指出，台灣的GII會是0.036，
This would have made Taiwan the top country in Asia, and No. 7 in the world, in promoting gender equality.
這讓台灣在促進性別平等方面成為亞洲第一，全球排名第七。
