Two Taiwanese influencers were recently jailed in Cambodia after creating and posting fake kidnapping videos.

The pair — Chen Neng-chuan and Lu Tsu-hsien — were each sentenced to two years in prison and fined $1,000 for their parts in the hoax that Cambodian authorities said could have caused “social disorder.”

However, the content of the videos caused Cambodian police to investigate the safety of Chen and Lu, finding them in “a local apartment that was full of props used to stage Chen’s abduction.”
