The initial 20 members of the board include: Tawakkol Karman, a Nobel Peace Prize laureate from Yemen, Alan Rusbridger, the former editor-in-chief of the British newspaper The Guardian, and Helle Thorning-Schmidt, the former prime minister of Denmark. Professor Katherine Chen at National Chengchi University’s College of Communications is also on the list.

In 2016, the social networking site was criticized for censoring the famous “Napalm Girl” photograph, citing nudity. The Pulitzer Prize winning photo was taken during the Vietnam War in 1972 and depicts an injured nine-year-old child, running naked during a napalm attack.
