“Taipei City, as everyone knows, is a ‘Tianlong Country’. Military and civil service personnel constitute a significant part of the voting population. We only need to look at recent history to see how fickle Taipei can be. After the DPP put Chen Sui-bian in power, he was later defeated by KMT’s Ma Ying-jeou. That’s why Ko Wen-je deliberately chose not to represent any party. Instead, he siphoned the most votes he could from both parties’ supporters,” observed Windson.
「台北市如大家所知就是天龍國，軍公教人口多，過去從阿扁執政到後來被國民黨馬英九打垮，就可以知道台北市的藍綠基本盤屬於中性，觀察到此一特性，所以柯文哲刻意不選邊站，竭力取得兩黨支持者的最多數選票。」

He also noted that the upcoming election may depend on two demographic extremes. Windson points out that voter turnout for the elderly in Taipei is still relatively high and that seniors are, generally speaking, more concerned about politics. However, he notes that the younger generation has their own set of opinions about Ko’s performance as mayor over the last four years. Therefore, it is not an exaggeration to say that this election is a war between generations.

Windson reminds us that in order to win, Mayor Ko’s team can’t just focus on online debates, polls or campaigns. Getting citizens between the ages of 20 to 40 out to vote in force is also a big problem he is facing.

The situation was different in 2014, when student mobilization was at its peak. Then, Ko took advantage of this trend and owed much of his victory to the power of college students, who were motivated to move their residency papers to Taipei City under the banner of “Voting to Save Taipei.”

Windson urges voters to pause and consider the question “Is Ko’s ‘Cyber Army’ really the voice of Taipei? Or could this ‘Net Army’ be coming from South or Central Taiwan… or maybe even from China? The source of online noise and propaganda is nearly impossible to locate. It is more practical for the candidates to campaign at the grassroots level. It is also more practical for the voters to interact with the candidates personally.”
溫紳分析現下空戰打得熱烈，奉勸選民看看即可，無需太認真，「網軍真的都是台北人嗎？也可能來自中南部或是中國吧？來源不可能精準，各家候選人還是勤跑基層，打『地面巷戰』較為實際，選民親身與候選人有互動交流，才是可行的做法。」

As the election gets more and more tense, Windson calmly observes the ebbs and flows of the political campaigns. “On election day, everything could go sideways!”
