In order to answer these important questions, software company Slack asked 18,149 desk workers in nine countries about how they spend their time at work.

Their findings show the percentage of time these workers spend doing “performative work,” or just trying to look busy, instead of doing real “productive work.”

According to the results, workers in India reported the highest percentage of performative work — 43% — followed by Japanese workers (37%) and Singaporean workers (36%).
