According to news sources, China’s Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival will take place on November 23rd, which is the same date as Taiwan’s Golden Horse Awards ceremony.

Some suspect that China chose the date on purpose to boycott the Golden Horse Awards because, during last year’s ceremony, Taiwanese director Fu Yue said that her greatest wish was that one day Taiwan “could be treated as a truly independent entity.”
