Citigroup is closing its consumer banking operations in 13 markets across Asia, Europe, the Middle East and Africa, along with its business in Taiwan.

Citigroup’s Chief Executive Officer Jane Fraser said in a statement that the US banking group has decided to withdraw its business from these regions because it does not have the scale to compete in these markets.
