A grandmother in China reportedly walks 24 kilometers a day to make sure that her wheelchair-bound grandson receives an education.

Shi Yuying, 76, makes four return trips a day pushing her 9-year-old grandson, Jiang Haowen to school and back home in the rural Guangxi Province in southern China.

The strong-willed grandmother, who is the boy’s sole caretaker, said: “As long as I can push the child, we must persevere.”

Haowen’s parents divorced when he was four years old. His father is now working in another city to help sustain the family, while his mother has remarried.
