Japanese scientists may have discovered a cure for baldness — and it lies within one of the ingredients found in McDonald’s fries.
bald(adj.)禿頭的baldness(n.)禿頭ingredient(n.)
A stem cell research team from Yokohama National University found that dimethylpolysiloxane, the silicone added to McDonald’s fries to prevent cooking oil from splashing, could actually help to grow new hair follicles that could then be transplanted onto mice.

According to the scientists, this discovery is “promising” for improving current techniques for human hair regeneration.
promising(adj.)有希望的、有前途的regeneration(n.)再生
So far, the method has only been tested on mice. The next step will be to try the technique on humans with hopes of similarly impressive results.

McDonald’s declined to comment on their use of the ingredient.

It is worth noting that just because the fries contain this useful chemical doesn’t mean that eating them is a good idea.
Some media outlets are pushing the notion that eating fries might cure baldness, but it is actually quite a leap to assume that eating a ton of fries is an effective treatment for baldness.
notion(n.)觀念;看法leap(n.)跳躍;飛越effective(adj.)有效的
The mice being tested did not actually eat the chemical for the purpose of the study; rather, they were injected with hair follicles created by using the chemical in a separate environment.
