After making a substantial pledge to donate a whopping $50 million dollars to help speed up the development of a coronavirus vaccine, Microsoft Founder Bill Gates announced that he is stepping down from the software giant’s board of directors to focus full-time on his philanthropic endeavors.

On March 13, Gates announced in a LinkedIn post that he has made the decision to leave his position on the boards at both Microsoft and Berkshire Hathaway, expressing a desire to “dedicate more time to his philanthropic priorities in areas including global health, development, education and climate change.”
