Economists at Bank of America have warned that the Fed’s balance sheet as a percentage of GDP could increase by 20% to 40% this year. According to reports, the balance sheet hit a record high of $6.42 trillion as the central bank used its nearly unlimited buying power to soak up assets to keep markets functioning. That is up more than 50% from levels reported during the first week of March.
