The Sunswift 7 solar-powered vehicle, designed by a team of University of New South Wales (UNSW) engineering students, has “set a provisional Guinness World Record in a 1,000 kilometer race.”

Originally created for the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge in 2021, which was canceled due to the pandemic, the Sunswift 7 had to overcome many in-race obstacles on the way to setting its world record—including a 14 minute and 52 second pit stop to repair a battery issue and tire puncture that almost exceeded the maximum 15-minute time limit allowed for repairs.
