Asia markets crumbled on Thursday, after US President Donald Trump’s attack on the Federal Reserve’s plan to raise interest rates triggered a sell-off on Wall Street.

The steep drop in Asia followed Wednesday’s plunge in New York, with the Dow Jones dropping 3.1 percent — the biggest fall since February — after Trump took aim at the Federal Reserve for continuing to raise interest rates despite recent market turbulence.

The president said the Fed “is making a mistake” with its campaign of rate increases. “I think the Fed has gone crazy,” he charged.

Analyst Stephen Innes of OANDA said Trump’s comments have unsettled investors. “Equity markets were pulverized today as investors remain in full out retreat,” he said.
