beverage(n.)飲料
Zack: Hey Sally, have you heard about that new vending machine Asahi Soft Drinks is developing in Japan?
Sally: No, is there anything special about it?
Zack: It’s a vending machine that can absorb carbon dioxide from the air.
It’s+強調的重點+that+子句absorb(v.)
Sally: That’s pretty cool. How does it do that?
Zack: It uses some material that has calcium in it to capture CO2 within a radius of up to one meter. And get this, one machine can take in as much CO2 as 20 cedar trees in a year!
material(n.) 捕捉、採集radius(n.)半徑diameter(n.)直徑take in吸收as much as高達、多達
Sally: Wow, that’s impressive. Is it the first machine of its kind in Japan?
kind(n.)
Zack: Yes, it is. Asahi Soft Drinks is even thinking about using the captured CO2 to make stuff like concrete or fertilizer.
concrete(n.)混凝土fertilizer(n.)肥料
Sally: It’s good to see companies taking steps towards helping the environment. When are they planning to start using the new vending machine?
Zack: They’re going to try it out from June, and if it goes well, they’ll start introducing it all over Japan next year.
try out試用、試驗introduce(v.)
Sally: It’ll be interesting to see how it works in real life.
