A Japanese start-up company, ALE, has worked with the Japanese government on a project to release a meteor shower at the Tokyo Olympic Games in 2020.

Artificial meteors are brightest when they reach the height of 60km above Earth, and their duration in the sky can last 10 times longer than regular meteors and shine for about 3 seconds.
