The 2020 Tokyo Olympics has faced setback after setback, and the latest blow is the resignation of creative director Hiroshi Sasaki following demeaning comments about Naomi Watanabe, a famous female celebrity in Japan.

Sasaki’s resignation comes only a month after the president of the organizing committee, Yoshiro Mori, was forced to resign after making sexist comments that women talk too much in meetings.

Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike called Sasaki’s comments extremely embarrassing. She said, “When we are talking about what we deliver from Tokyo, or from Japan, we shouldn’t be sending a negative message.”
東京都知事小池百合子稱佐佐木的言論「極為尷尬」，她說「當我們代表東京或日本發言時，我們不應該傳遞負面訊息。
In a statement he released, Sasaki said he had called Seiko Hashimoto, the president of the organizing committee, and tendered his resignation.
