Amazon said it plans on hiring 100,000 new workers across the US to keep up with a crush of online orders, as more people turn to online shopping for supplies as many are confined to their homes due to the coronavirus crisis.

The online retailing giant is also temporarily raising pay by $2 an hour through April, for hourly employees who work at its warehouses, delivery centers and Whole Foods grocery stores.
