Maggie noticed a man smoking at the outdoor cafe. She decided to kindly talk to him about the matter.
瑪姬發現一位男士在戶外咖啡廳吸菸。她決定友善地跟他談這個事情。

Maggie: Excuse me, sir. Could you do me a favor and not smoke here? There are kids around, and it’s not good for them.
瑪姬：不好意思，先生。可以拜託你不要在這裡吸菸嗎？附近有孩子，對他們不太好。
do sb. a favor 幫某人忙around(adv.)附近、周遭
Man: Huh? Why not? There’s no sign that says I can’t smoke here. I can smoke. It’s my choice.
男士：咦？為什麼不行？這裡沒有標示不准抽菸的牌子。我可以抽菸。這是我的選擇。
sign(n.)告示;牌子can’t=cannot不能choice(n.)選擇choose(v.)選擇make a choice做選擇
Maggie: I know, but smoking around children is bad for their health.
瑪姬：我知道，但在孩子們身邊抽菸對他們的健康不好。
be bad for...對...有害be good for...對...有益health(n.)健康
Man: Well, it’s an outdoor cafe, so I thought it was fine.
男士：嗯，這裡是戶外咖啡廳，所以我以為沒關係。
think(v.)認為、以為(過去式為thought)
Maggie: I get that, but it would be great if you could either go to a smoking area or stop smoking.
瑪姬：我了解，但如果你可以去吸菸區或者停止吸菸，那就太好了。
get(v.)了解=understandit would be great if...若是...就太好了either A or B 要麼…要麼...
Man: You know what? I never really thought about it that way. You’re right. I’ll put out my cigarette and find another spot. Thanks for telling me.
男士：你知道嗎？我從來沒有這樣想過。你說得對。我會把菸熄滅，另外找一個地方。謝謝你跟我說。
never(adv.)從未put out 撲滅、熄滅spot(n.)地方;地點
