
工時長、壓力大、報酬低
People in Taiwan are overworked, underpaid, tired, and stressed. That’s according to a recent survey by employment website 1111.com.tw, which last week published a study on how Taiwanese workers feel about their jobs.
台灣的人們工作過度、報酬過低、疲勞並感到有壓力。這是根據人力網站1111.com.tw最近的調查結果,該網站上週公布了一項關於台灣上班族對工作的看法的調查。

The study looked at work exhaustion among Taiwanese workers, and found that 46 percent were both physically and mentally worn out by their jobs.

Another 44 percent said that they were mentally tired at the end of the day, and the other 10 percent said that their work left them physically tired.

The reasons behind that are not surprising. 1111 found that professionals in Taiwan worked an average total of 2035 hours in 2017, compared to a global average of 1759 hours.

However, they didn’t seem to be receiving many benefits. Almost half (46.08 percent) said that they were underpaid, and 21.66 percent said they were working shifts or late at night.

“Taiwanese people are doing long hours, being put under a lot of pressure, and receiving low salaries. It’s causing a lot of physical and mental fatigue,” said head of 1111 Public Affairs Department and Career Development Center Li Da-hua.

Eighty-three percent of people in the survey said that their work made them feel tired, 43.32 percent of whom said that they were exhausted at the end of the day.
