help是幫忙的意思，但如果我們說某人「克制不住、忍不住」要去做某事的時候，可以用sb. can’t (couldn’t) help doing sth.，或者是sb. can’t (couldn’t) help but do sth.來表示，一起來看看下面的例句與說明吧！

例：I am already full, but I can’t help eating dessert.
( 我已經飽了，但我忍不住還要再吃甜點。 )
例：I know I shouldn’t have gone there, but I couldn’t help it at the time.
( 我知道不該去那裡，但我當時真的忍不住要去。 )
例：I can’t help but wonder why we have to give up this project.

重點提示：
※ cannot help but的but為連接詞；but當連接詞的意思除了有「但是、然而」外，還有「除了」的意思，例如：She just sits here doing nothing but complain. ( 她坐在這裡只知道抱怨。 ) 或There is no other solution but to seek help. ( 除了尋求幫助外別無他法。 )
※help後面要加動詞ing，而but後面加原形動詞。
